Richmond offers lots of opportunities for artists, cultural leaders, community members and creative changemakers to learn new skills, deepen their practice and build supportive networks.

Art at Work: Professional Development Workshop Series

Art at Work is a series of professional development workshops designed for professional artists and arts organizations practicing in any artistic medium. The program is presented in partnership by the City of Richmond Arts Services and Richmond Art Gallery. The program is intended to provide artists and arts organizations with knowledge and skills relevant to pursuing a professional practice in the field of public art, performance, visual art and community arts.

Artist Salon Series

Richmond Art Gallery’s Artist Salon is an opportunity for emerging and established artists to meet other artists, learn from other arts professionals, share or create work and discuss upcoming opportunities in the arts community. Discussion topics change monthly and often include presentations by artists on their professional practice. To view previous sessions, click here.

Resident Art Groups

Looking to meet like-minded people and hone your craft? Join one of the Resident Art Groups at the Arts Centre. Groups meet regularly for studio time and new members are always welcome to join.

The Lulu Series: Art in the City

The Lulu Series is a free, annual three-part lecture guest speaker series by leaders in the fields of public art, community engagement, architecture and city planning that explores how the arts work in cities.

Richmond Arts Coalition

This Richmond-based arts association actively supports, promotes and advocates for the arts. They maintain an arts-focused newsletter, event calendar and member-features. They also produce arts initiatives designed to strengthen the local arts community and support local artists. Learn more.


Community Arts Council of Richmond

Founded in 1970, this registered non-profit charity provides opportunities for Richmond residents of all ages to participate in and benefit from the arts. They sponsor exhibitions, performances, classes, workshops and special programs. They are actively looking for further opportunities to assist in the development of art and culture. Learn more.


BC Alliance for Arts and Culture

Offers workshops for artists, cultural producers and organizations. Their website features resources including classified ads, artist calls, publicity support, professional development workshops, grants and funding info, research, reports, advocacy and toolkits. Learn more.

 

Arts BC

Supports knowledge-sharing through its province-wide network with services include toll-free arts help hotline, grants calendar, toolkits and annual conference. Learn more.


Charity Village

Canada’s largest and most popular online resource for employment and volunteer recruitment in the non-profit sector. Their Learning Centre offers affordable and accessible online tutorials, eLearning courses and resources. Learn more.


Richmond Diversity Symposium

The Diversity Symposium is a free conference for professionals, volunteers and community members interested in learning, sharing and advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in their communities. Learn more.

 

Visceral Visions

Visceral Visions is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and support of Indigenous and racialized Canadian artists. Artists of diverse backgrounds are invited to submit artist profiles highlighting their creative discipline, marketable skills and portfolio items on their searchable database with the goal to connect artists to producers, directors, curators and publishers looking for Indigenous and racialized artists (IARA).


CARFAC BC

CARFAC BC is the collective voice for professional artists in British Columbia advocating for artists' legal rights, and offering practical advice and skill development to support the professional practices of cultural producers.
